Research Projects

Ardana supports a number of research programmes being carried out by various leading academic institutions. Through its agreement with the MRC, Ardana has access to a number of research projects within the HRSU. The Unit is a leader in research into gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH), which is the ‘master switch’ controlling female and male sex hormones. The Unit also has considerable interests in inflammatory modulation.

Ardana has identified four key strategic research areas within the Unit:

  1. Neuroendocrine regulation of reproduction
  2. Cancers of the reproductive tract
  3. Inflammatory and immune mediators in the female tract
  4. Angiogenesis in the female tract

This pipeline contains product candidates, which Ardana intends to develop and market itself, such as those which address reproductive tumours and sexual dysfunction. It also includes non-strategic compounds for which major pharmaceutical partners would optimally handle late-stage development and marketing.

Ardana also has an early stage research collaboration with Professor Philip Baker’s team at the Maternal & Foetal Health Research Centre, St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester, which seeks to identify a new target for the treatment of pre-eclampsia.
